Bousman and Bell on Saw IV!
Source: ShockTillYouDrop.com June 12, 2007 Rumors are spreading online about the plot for Lionsgate's anticipated Saw IV, but director Darren Lynn Bousman set the record straight when talking with ShockTillYouDrop.com on Tuesday night. "Nobody knows what this is about," Bousman said. "Every plot synopsis you've read online is false and untrue. The thing with Macfadyen looking for his daughter? Believe it if you want. But no one knows what this story is." When questioned whether this film will be more violent than the previous three, the helmer added, "I'm going to be very curious about what the MPAA says about the first 20 minutes of this film. There's something there that is incredibly violent." Tobin Bell also talked to us about the return of Jigsaw. "You find out why I'm back in the very first scene. Why I'm back and why I'm around." And why should audiences come back for another movie? Because of "a tremendous ending," added Bell. Stay tuned for lots more on the fourth installment, opening October 26, here at Shock. ----------------- Shitty promotional art or not, I am fucking excited. |

Sweet deal!
That makes me happy. I do hope Jeff returns though, but the first 20 minutes sound intriguing now.

I guessing that the first 20 minutes could be Jigsaw returning and putting a central character person through The Rat Trap that disgusted James?
Unless it's from DLB or anyone else that was involved with SAW IV it's great news to hear.

I guess it's my own fault for clicking on it.
Now I know that Jigsaw is back for sure, and it's not just for flash backs.... I sort of wanted it to be a suprise, but what can I do , erase it from my mind lol.

one idea that I had in mind is that Jigsaw used a dummy or his own SPFX to fake his death, that would be ironic... the FX crew making a dummy that is actually supposed to be a dummy.

I was so sure he would have died from that neck wound...
I'm still pretty sure he did, but the first scene is going to have some sort of twist to it, like Jeff or someone trying to revive him (how the hell can you save someone from a neck slash like his?), only to sputter out and die (for good).

Sweet Jesus! I KNOW Saw 4 is going to have one hell of a twist ending that will give us goosebumps! In this thread alone, Tobin said audiences should see Saw 4 because of the tremendous ending AND Darren Bousman said he returned to direct Saw 4 BECAUSE of the ending. SWEET JESUS! OCTOBER 26th, WHERE ARE YOU??!?!?!?!??
And to add on to that, here's what B-D wrote... This evening Bloody-Disgusting had the chance to speak with Darren Lynn Bousman, the director Lionsgate's Saw IV, which hits theaters everywhere on October 26. Inside you'll find a whole assortment of goodies from stories about the MPAA, new characters, the plot, twists, traps and even... Saw V?! Read on for the skinny and watch for word from Tobin Bell (Jigsaw) soon. Director Darren Lynn Bousman made his return to the States today to talk to us journalists about SAW IV, which wrapped last week in Toronto, Canada. There are many questions looming about the film, mainly about the plot, "Nobody knows what this is about," Bousman said. "Every plot synopsis you've read online is false and untrue. The thing with Macfadyen looking for his daughter? Believe it if you want. But no one knows what this story is." He also noted that he prefers to leave everyone speculating, especially on this entry. What he did reveal about the plot was that he killed everyone off, so there will be some new characters, “I killed off everybody, I needed to bring new people in. [There is] more character stuff than in SAW 2,” he explained to B-D. “We did some fucked up shit this year that's exciting to me - we were able to keep the secrets hidden.” He reveals that SAW IV will have two new characters... Parez and Strom (?)” He also talked about how amazing it was working with star Scott Patterson, “[He’s] insane and a great guy. He started improvising,” Bousman tells us. “It was gold... The best I've ever seen.” Tackling the script was very difficult and they had to take a new approach, “[We took] a much different approach, [the script] is more complicated, [it’s] a hard read, [you] have to read it again and again,” he reveals, “There are four different stories going on - not just about torturing.” And speaking of torturning… Bousman reveals that the best trap in the movie came during a slow point in filming, when he improvised a new scene, “I came up with a new trap during a slow three days, the best in the movie!” Hopefully you’re a fan if you’re going to see this movie, because Bousman tells us it will help in the long run, “It helps audiences knowing the first three [SAW films], but you don't need to.” Bousman also tells Bloody-Disgusting that SAW IV will stay true to the franchise… “Jigsaw doesn't lie,” he hints. He joked that the rule sheet is basically a thick book. One of the main questions everyone is asking: why come back? Bousman tells B-D that the twist in the script sold him instantly, “I was adamant about not coming back, but when I hit page 87 they [Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton] got me... I knew then I needed to come back.” He explained that the SAW films are like magic tricks, “Everyone is trying to see how the trick is done and then [in the end are] tricked.” The biggest shocker of all is that Darren revealed to Bloody-Disgusting that co-creators Leigh Whannell and James Wan were in fact involved with SAW IV… even though they’ll deny it! He also talked about the MPAA and violence, bringing up how the first 20-minutes of SAW IV might create a reaction from the board. He also joked that the MPAA was ok with the autopsy in SAW III because CSI has more graphic autopsies, “[The MPAA] have more problems with emotional torture, like girls crying.” In the third film Bousman shot a bunch of extended gore specifically for the MPAA to cut out of the film, only they let it slide. In the end Bousman removed the footage because it was never his intention to have it shown in the first place. “There’s a scene in SAW III, which will be on the director’s cut, where [Bahar Soomekh] has her head blown up and her husband [Angus Macfadyen] is scooping her brains off the wall hugging her telling her ‘everything is going to be OK’ “ The best part of the interview was Bousman joking with B-D about whether or not he’ll be back for more, “I will not be directing SAW V... I promise.”

...not to mention his heart-rate flat-lined, but again people have done that & can come back. Still, that neck wound was deeper than Taps. However he could be around for flashbacks he doesn't really say I'm alive, nor dead (presumed) but we'll see....
I'm glad we have no real idea what's coming (til the teasers, etc lol) b/c it's more fresh & with new, outside writers (although risky to us fans), they can give that other perspective (seeing some flaws the original crew didn't realize/change). Again, with DLB & most of the crew back, it still has the Saw basis & they'll stick to it. They know Saw is pushed by its fans, so they know better than to stray from us. That being said, this is good news lol. Glad the opening will be powerful as the others were (and original). Also, what is Saw w/o "tremendous endings" (or twists), and with Tobin stating that, this should turn some of you doubters back 10/26.------------------- okay didn't read the B-D article before posting, sounds good too lol. As for "everyone being dead," sry for the above speculation on Jigsaw's survival, but it's Saw, we won't know until October.

Rawr! Autopsy scene! I've always thought they should have one in a Saw movie.
Parez, Strom, and Brenda? Four different stories? Ahh! This is making me happy. I dunno why; it's reveals nothing, but it's teasing me! Arr!
