I've seen this issue raised a few times, and it's a little confusing. Amanda's game in SAW 1 gave her a choice between saving herself by killing someone, or saving someone else by letting herself die. There was no option available for both of them to survive. It's arguable that Jigsaw is self-deluding or hypocritical, but I don't think it's a violation of "Saw" rules for a trap to exist in which not everyone can survive.
In Saw V there was of course a game in which everyone
could have survived, but I don't consider that to be the new gold standard of the series.
